Ubisoft, the French video game developer and publisher operates globally and has published numerous games so far. Best selling games like Just Dance, Assassin’s Creed and Ghost Recon are some of the best selling games of Ubisoft. This France Company has once again launched a new game for computers by the name ‘I Am Alive’.

Ubisoft Game - I am Alive

I Am Alive is a post-apocalyptic adventure game which was released for computers on the 13th of September 2012. The company promised earlier to show tremendous improvements in the game that will be released later this year and has proved it. The tension and the emotional decisions make the game a powerful adventure. Get ready to involve yourself in the game:

You can find your city in ruins with destroyed cars littered in the streets, crumbling buildings and dusts that will make anyone choke to death. To add to the woe, you can find people worse in shape and much tattered than the city. I Am Alive conveys the tremendous state of a society where there is no police force to maintain order. There are only two decisions that you can take, either die or live. You are the main character in the game and hence the protagonist is unnamed. However, the supporting members have interesting names of their own. By involving you in the main role, the game ensures that you are liberal to make decisions.

When your city was being ruined, you were on the other side of the country which takes almost a year to reach by walk. You reach home to see the devastated state which leaves guilt in your heart. If you want to know why the city was ruined or by whom, the answer is unknown. You are left to imagine the worst reason for your city’s distress. The game insists on the effect and not the cause. The hero of the game, that is you, reach the abandoned apartment with no clue about your family. You get to meet a young girl by the name Mei at the parking lot, who is surrounded by men with bad intentions. You look at her and think of your daughter, the next moment you slay those men and save her. Mei trusts you and you develop an immediate connection with her. You live with her and you both make a good family. You decide to look out for your family all over the country. In-between the walk in the wasteland you get the chance of eating some meat and helping a woman.

You cross rails, drain pipes and do all sort of odd things to reach new areas. The pounding music in the background conveys the message that you are running out of time. You need to realize that a regular man needs enormous strength to do things that a superman does. You are not let to die, but offered a limited number of items which can be pinched when the stamina is low. Every morsel is like a precious diamond because the items will have to last till the end. You get to travel only through a tiny part of a city which makes you feel like an entire world. To reach your destination, extreme determination and patience is required.

A poisonous fog might arise and you need to find ways to get out of it. You might walk in a wrong path which will leave you to die in the streets. Finding a way into clean air is challenging indeed. Sometimes you might walk in an alley and the game might warn you that it is the wrong path. Do you have a feeling that you are lost? Access the map anytime and don’t be confused by the intrusive heads display. The white and red bar on the top of the screen constantly updates you on your stamina and health. The game is practical and effective clearing of all the artificial barriers and making you take emotional decisions. When people on the streets attack you and try to kill you, don’t show your gun. Speak gently and when he calms down slit his throat. Take up the street fight with zeal and challenge the enemies. Killing men without ammunition whenever possible is the best idea. When someone comes to attack you, check to see if they are armed. If many men surround you, listen to their words and attack the leader so that the followers surrender. I Am Alive does give some work to the brain. There might be people who don’t want to kill or hurt you but desperate to protect their family. In such cases, you can decide whether to kill the innocent or leave them.

You are just given a single first aid kit, and you have to decide whether to keep it for yourself or lend it to a desperate woman who suffers from asthma. You have two choices to start the game- survivor and normal. The difference between them is in the number of items and the number of retries you can get. If you lose your retries it means you have failed tremendously. There is no good or bad in this game. The game involves a lot of emotional connection and from the technical point of view, there is nothing special that can be discussed. But I Am Alive offers a wonderful experience that is hard to forget. You get to know exactly how humans react when there are no rules to bind them. The game keeps you tensed throughout anxiously expecting to meet your lost family.
