CCP Show Cause Notices to DHA and Wateen Telecom
Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has issued show cause notifications to Defense Housing Authority (DHA) and Wateen Telecom Ltd (Wateen) for making an exclusive contract illegal under the Competition Act 2010.
In the statement issued by CCP said that notices were issued after emails received by CCP from a resident of DHA Phase V Lahore, protesting about the dearth of options available to residents of DHA for telecom and media services setting up for a thirty years of lengthy period. Preliminary inquiry of the issue CCP came to know that the options of residents are being constrained due to an exclusive contract between Wateen Telecom and DHA operative from January 1, 2008.
PTCL Reported Net Profit of 2.08 Billion in Q1 2010
Pakistan Telecommunication Co Ltd today reported a net profit of 2.08 billion rupees ($24.22 million) in the quarter ending Sept. 30. The same period last year saw a net profit of 2.57 billion rupees.
PTCL shares were trading 0.47 percent lower at 19.09 rupees, in a broader market KSE.
