Telenor's Easypaisa Emerging Payment Preference in Pakistan
Telenor a Norway based company in Pakistan is working greatly with ranked 2nd in all five telecom operators. Telenor always face cruel conditions in Pakistan whether it is the retaliation of some campaign or any other thing but it is committed to serve its consumers from anyway.
Pakistan is an under developed country and most of its population don’t have formal banking accounts especially the people who are living in rural areas of country. Telenor in 2008 launched Easypaisa that is branchless and informal banking with the collaboration of Tameer Micro finance Bank.
EasyPaisa Outlet Has Been Visited by UK’s Secretary Of State
EasyPaisa is a project started by Telenor Pakistan for providing mobile banking services to the people of Pakistan. In very short time easypaisa has gained much value in Pakistan. The function of easypaisa is done by Tameer microfinance bank, it has got approval from State bank of Pakistan in 2005.
Electronic Payment & Refund System Successfully Tested by SBP, FBR & Banks
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), and the commercial banks have successfully tested the ‘Electronic Payment and Refund System’ (EPARS), enabling the taxpayers to directly deposit tax payments from their bank accounts into the government treasury.
Easypaisa Wins Best MMT Entrant of The Year Award
Easypaisa has won the award for ‘Best Mobile Money Transfer Entrant of the Year’ at the world’s first Mobile Money Transfer (MMT) Awards held in Dubai last week, making it the year’s best service of its kind in the world.
The service was pitted against some of the world’s leading mobile financial service providers such as Vodafone and Safaricom. In the winning category, easypaisa competed against Grameenphone, Banglalink and Vodafone to win the award. It was also the only service nominated by the jury in three of the six categories; the two other categories being ‘Most Inventive Marketing Campaign’ and ‘Achievement in Financial Inclusion’.
Easypaisa Successful One Year of Service
Pakistan’s first real branchless banking solution, easypaisa, has successfully completed one year of operations. The service, which was launched jointly by Telenor Pakistan and Tameer Microfinance Bank last year, has helped provide people across Pakistan with access to convenient and secure financial services.
