Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is planning to offer licences for the third generation (3G) mobile telecommunication services to telecom operators in Pakistan. The Islamabad high court has dismissed the case filled by Long Distance and International (LDI) operators against PTA in which the legitimacy of Access Promotion Contribution (APC) for the Universal Service Fund (USF) had been challenged. Multinet and few other LDI operators have not given their amount for APC due to which the license of Multinet and other LDI operators got cancelled by PTA.
Long Distance and International (LDI) operators are the source of international dialing and contribute a certain amount in Pakistan’s economy. Few months back the issue of illegal exchanges had been raised and Pakistan telecommunication authority had given suggestions for controlling illegal gateway exchanges and all LDI operators showed contentment over it.

ZONG, the fastest growing network of Pakistan, has successfully added 3.1 million subscribers in its base during first three quarter of fiscal year 2010 – 2011 and has shown highest growth in users’ number among all telecom operators.
