300,000 Watan Cards Distributed to Flood Affected Families, Tariq Malik

National Database and Registration Authority, NADRA has issued 300,000 Watan Cards to flood affected families ensuring a transparent disbursal of 20 thousand rupees per family as announced by the Govt of Pakistan and so far 225,000 families have drawn more than 2.5 billion rupees; this was stated by Tariq Malik Deputy Chairman NADRA in a statement issued today.

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has made extraordinary efforts to curb illegal issuance of SIMs and to ensure authentic antecedents of mobile subscribers by implementation of one of its kind “Online Verification of Mobile Subscribers’ Antecedents through NADRA’s Database-789” in February 2009. After having successfully implemented the system for mobile operators, PTA has extended its efforts by bringing the WLL operators under the same umbrella.
