Growth of 85 Percent in Mobile Import in 3rd Quarter of Current Fiscal Year

The mobile handsets import in July-March 2011 reached Rs 33.549 billion, according to the figures released by Federal Board of Statistics (FBS). The import stood at Rs 18.061 billion in the corresponding period previous fiscal year, showing a tremendous growth of 85 percent in the third quarter of current fiscal year. In terms of dollar, the imports of handsets swelled to $392.028 million during July to March that signifies huge spending of Pakistan’s nation on mobile handsets every month at the cost of foreign exchange loss.

PTCL Reported Net Profit of 2.08 Billion in Q1 2010

Pakistan Telecommunication Co Ltd today reported a net profit of 2.08 billion rupees ($24.22 million) in the quarter ending Sept. 30. The same period last year saw a net profit of 2.57 billion rupees.

PTCL shares were trading 0.47 percent lower at 19.09 rupees, in a broader market KSE.
