PTCL Union Hails Decision of Shares Transfer to Employees
In a meeting with Privitization Minister, the union of PTCL widely appreciated the official decision to handover twelve percent shares of the company to its deserving employees. Terming the step ‘revolutionary’ the office hoders of union said this scheme which is launched under Benazir Employees Stock Option (BESO))will go a long way in inculcating a sense of ownership among its employees .Secretary General Lala Muhammad Hanif also vowed on the part of workers to work more diligently and meticulously in order to meet the expectations of both public and management.
Taking note of the effective role played by the Minister, the delegation held that the aforementioned step will go a long way in removing misconceptions between government and management and provide conducive atmosphere for future operations of the company.
The minister informed the delegation that BESOS scheme approved by the Federal Cabinet covers employees of 80 State Owned Entities (SOEs), which is according to the vision of BB shaheed.who always attached great importance to the uplift and empowerment of the workers. The President Asif Ali Zardari and the Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani also are determined to make the workers as owners of their respective entities, he added.
The PTCL CBA workers union gave three names of their office bearers for the establishment of PTCL BESOS Trust. The names include Muhammad Waseem Minhas Senior Vice President, Muhammad Iqbal Senior Vice President-2 and Sardar Aurangzeb Vice President. The Minister directed the Privatisation Commission (PC) officials to get the PTCL and other entities “trust” registered at the earliest to transmit the benefits of the scheme to the workers without any further delay. So far, 39 BESOS Trusts have been registered under BESOS. The establishment of BESOS Trust in Pakistan Steel Mills Corporation (PSMC) and Pakistan Steel Fabrication (PSF) are at final stage while Trusts in the remaining organisations are under process.
It is worty to mentioning here that the Privatisation Commission (PC) formed the PTCL UFONE BESOS Trust and got it registered recently. The employees of PTCL and UFONE will get the benefits under this Trust. The Minister directed the officials to finalize the other entities Trust and to get them registered at their earliest to transmit the benefits of the scheme to the workers without any further delay.
