MCB and NOKIA Join Hands for Providing Financial Services

According a press release issued today, MCB Bank Limited and Nokia Finland have announced that they have signed an agreement for provision of financial services to million of mobile phone users. This is the first agreement of its kind in Pakistan. No financial institute has joined up with a telecom giant to provide services before.

Mr M U A Usmani, President MCB said this deal would result into a whole new generation of low cost financial services that would be made available to many users. He also acknowledged that this agreement was first of its kind in Pakistan.

Mr. Teppo Paavola, GM Mobile Financial Services at Nokia said that being one of the most popular brand in Pakistan, Nokia is well suited to connect its users to different solutions and services. He said that Pakistan, having one of the fastest growing ‘mobile money ecosystems’ was best suited for financial services. He also acknowledged that MCB is a very significant player in developing this system and they have also teamed up with the bank to provide users with reliable financial solutions.

SEVP and Group Head Consumer Banking at MCB, Mr. Ali Mubashir Kazmi also spoke at the occasion. He said that MCB is proud to be the first bank to launch mobile financial services for its customer along with Nokia. He said that this agreement will allow both the companies to transform the banking experience of millions of users. He said it will also trigger development of mobile banking sector in the country. He said that these financial services will become very common in the country in no time.

MCB has a proven track record of providing and introducing mobile banking services. Nokia will let its users share the experience by developing a financial app that will be preloaded in its phones. It will have most of the banking services that can be handled via mobile. So far no time line as to how this will be done has been given.
