How To Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 Using RedSn0w

Today Apple seeded the iOS 5.0.1 beta for the developers and the news that the latest version is jailbroken now. Here we are going to show you how to jailbreak the latest iOS 5.0.1 running on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod touch 4G, 3G and iPad. As usual, iPad 2 and iPhone 4S are not supported yet.

 

Basically, you will need to use the popular jailbreaking tool, Redsn0w to jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 and all you need to do is pointing the tool over the iOS 5 IPSW. Following are the full step by step instructions to jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 on all the devices mentioned above, except iPad 2 and iPhone 4S.

Step 1: First of all, you will need to download the required files from following links:

• iOS 5.0.1 for iPhone, iPad or iPod touch
• Redsn0w 0.9.9b7

Step 2: Now connect your device to your desktop and sync it with the iTunes to update it to iOS 5.0.1

Step 3: If you have successfully updated your iDevice to the latest iOS version, open Redsn0w and click on Extras. Now select the IPSW and point it to iOS 5 IPSW file, you can take a look at the following screenshots for better understanding:

 

Step 4: Now hit back and you will be seeing the first screen of Redsn0w, now find jailbreak button and hit it and also check on “Install Cydia”.

Step 5: You will be seeing following screen, follow those instructions to get DFU mode in your device:

 

So, after installing some exploits on your device, you will be able to get your device jailbroken within few minutes. After you have jailbroken your device you will see the white cydia icon. Now you will need to reboot your device and boot into a tethered mode so you will complete the jailbreaking process. This process will have to be repeated every time you will reboot your device.

How to do tethered boot in iOS 5.0.1:

Step 1: Now open redsn0w, spot the Extras button and press “Just Boot”.

 

Step 2: Now hit Next button and follow the on screen instructions and you will enter into DFU mode.
