Sony Xperia T SIM-Free Price Announced in UK

First hints at pricing for the flagship Sony Xperia T have appeared online, pricing the handset just above the £400 mark. Both Clove and Unlocked Mobiles have the Xperia T available for pre-order and both quote very similar, but not identical prices.

Clove is currently asking for £414 is return for the black, 16GB Xperia T, however it does note that the official price, along with the Sony Xperia T release date, is yet to be confirmed.

Unlocked Mobiles on the other hand goes further with its stock estimation, claiming it expects the handset to arrive in early October, and is asking for a whole 98p more for the Xperia T, that’s £414.98 for those of you who are numerically impaired.

Carphone Warehouse has also listed a range of tariffs on its website, showing that you’ll be able to pick up the Sony Xperia T for free on a reasonable £26 per month, two year contract with Orange (or from £29 per month with O2).

“In the first six months of its operation, 90 percent of the ISP user base is security compliant. If we want to really tackle it effectively we have to tackle it in multiple jurisdictions simultaneously around the world. We have started to have a dialogue to see if this is something we can do in a coordinated way.”

You can say this is the season of hacking and hackers have bombarded different websites and networks. Before sometime Sony play station network got hacked, Gmail accounts got hacked and now the leading game developer of UK codemasters becomes victim of hacking attack.

It has been reported that website of codemasters got hacked and the personal information of tens of thousands of registered users stealth. As soon as codemasters get to know of this hacking attack they made their website offline and start doing investigation regarding this.

In this attack the information that includes names, addresses (both physical and email), birthdays, phone numbers, Xbox gamer tags, biographies, and passwords of lot of people stealth. Codemasters apologized to the people who have directly harmed by this attack and other people directed towards the official facebook page of codemasters.

On the other side the epic games website has also been hacked in which only the email addresses and passwords of the accounts got stealth. Hackers did not gained access to other information like credit card numbers etc.

The Codemasters EStore said:

“We believe the following have been compromised: Customer names and addresses, email addresses, telephone numbers, encrypted passwords and order history. Please note that no personal payment information was stored with Codemasters as we use external payment providers, meaning your payment details were not at risk from this intrusion.”

Codemasters have provided certain advice for its users regarding this hacking attack. The users of codemasters have advised to change their passwords and if they use same login address for other accounts they should also change it. It is also mentioned here that codemasters do not need personal information or credit card numbers etc. So if any of the pages asking for these kinds of things should be made scam as it does not belong to codemasters.

It has been reported that the hacker group named as LulzSec, hacked the online server of Sony, this group also claims for hacking the networks of PBS television and Fox.com.

The LulzSec group has published details of all the customers who have participated in contest organized by Sony. Sony Inc said that the hackers could have also stealth the credit cards details.

Hacking group said:

“From a single injection, we accessed EVERYTHING. Why do you put such faith in a company that allows itself to become open to these simple attacks?”

Hacker group claimed that Sony was trying to assure the U.S officials regarding the security of their network but just one single attack has again proved the lack of security.

The issue of Cyber security is increasing day by day, U.S officials are taking all these attacks seriously and law makers are in action. Certain plans are under construction that will reduce the cyber attacks, the recent activity of Gmail hacking has really disturbed U.S and investigation is going on.

The market shares of Sony in Tokyo fell 0.3%. Now how can people trust on Sony for the security of their personal data? Sony really has to prove and assure a person that now the security is tight and no cyber attack will be done in future like before.

Sony Net Loss of $3.2 Billion in Year Ended March 31, 2011

Sony Corp said on Monday after a net loss of $ 3,200,000,000 for the year ended March 31, the latest setback for the Japanese consumer electronics giant.

The maker of PlayStation video games, Vaio computers and Trinitron TVs has been struggling to recover from the devastating earthquake in March, and, more recently, a series of hacking attacks.

It is expected to announce its full-year earnings on Thursday. Sony said it now expects a net loss of 260 billion yen (3200 million dollars) against an earlier forecast a profit of 70 billion yen, thanks to a “noncash charge” of about ¥ 360 000 000 000 Related with Japanese tax credits.

The company maintained its previous forecast, issued before the March 11 earthquake, for an annual operating profit of 200 billion yen (2.4 billion).

In its first estimate for the year to March 2012, Sony said its operating profit would also be around 200 billion yen. The devastating earthquake and tsunami in March damaged the Sony plant in northeastern Japan, growled the supply chain and caused a fall in domestic consumption.

Sony estimates that the impact of the earthquake this year to 150 billion yen at the operational level. As hacking attacks that forced the company to close its PlayStation Network, Sony said that “the known costs” estimated at 14 million yen. Sony aims to end of May to the full restoration of the affected networks.

Many rival companies, including Panasonic Corp., has yet to issue forecasts for the current year to March 2012 due to the uncertainty following the disaster.

A consensus of analysts, according to a Thomson Reuters Smart Estimates by I / B / E / S, is for a 2010/2011 operating profit of 197 billion yen. Smart Estimates place more weight on the latest estimates of highly skilled analysts.

Now most of the people don’t know what phishing site is, as earlier I also don’t know about this. Ok let me tell you, basically phishing site is a domain that is used for capturing the personal information like user names, passwords, credit card numbers etc.

It has been reported that there was a phishing site with the link of “hdworld.sony.co.th”. It was for the people of Thailand. This site was the sub domain of the official Sony site of Thailand. It was targeting the credit card company of Italy. F-Secure, an internet security company reported on this issue and said that this security flaw is different from server hacking but one cannot take it for granted.

Mikko H. Hyppönen from F-Secure said:

“I believe this particular site might run on some ad agency’s IP address. Nevertheless, it’s under Sony’s name, so technically, it’s Sony’s server”

Now we have to see how Sony tackles this situation and we can also say that this year is not good for Sony in the world of internet.

“If I had your email and your birth date I could have potentially got access to your account. The company found the security hole on a webpage that could potentially allow the hackers who had breached personal data from users in April to access their accounts using the data they had stolen.”

Sony has admitted that the last hacking attack was the big one of the history and in future company will never take such security risks.

Maxim Group analyst Mark Harding said:

“This is one of the things that was probably overlooked and forgotten by Sony”

Many people are giving different statements and ensuring that now Sony will take strict actions against such happenings.

Sony has hired outside investigators to help clean up their nets and catch the people behind a massive violation that exposes personal data of more than 100 million users of video games.

The Japanese electronics giant has retained a team of private property Forte data which is led by a former special agent with the U.S. Naval Criminal Investigative Service to work with FBI agents, who are also investigating the matter.

Sony said Tuesday that detectives had brought on cyber security software Guide and consultants of Robert Half International Inc the subsidiary Protiviti to help with the cleanup.

Officials at Sony and the three companies did not respond to requests for information about the investigation. Agents with the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation have said little about it, unless they are looking at the violation of data, which could include some credit card numbers.

The senator from Connecticut, Richard Blumenthal, in a letter to Sony on Tuesday asked the company to clarify the number of credit card accounts compromised and requested a detailed schedule describing what the company knew what was stolen and when it was known.

Blumenthal said he would ask U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, to investigate the matter and see if Sony’s subsequent handling of the matter as civil or criminal liability right.

“I would appreciate a direct and public response detailing what the company will do in the future to protect consumers against violations of their personal and financial information,” wrote Blumenthal. “It’s a major operation,” said David Baker, vice president of business services electronic security IOActive, who is not involved in the investigation.

He said that card issuers MasterCard and Visa Inc probably had appointed a company to investigate. Sony also said it hired the law firm Baker & McKenzie to help with the investigation. On Monday, Sony said its PC games on the network had also been exposed to hackers, in an incident involving the theft of his massive network of PlayStation video games separate data led to the theft of 77 million accounts user. Sony revealed that the attack last week.

PlayStation Network game console owners can download games and play against friends. The network of Sony Online Entertainment, the latest victim of theft, armies games like “EverQuest” and “Free Realms”, which are played over the Internet.
