Online shopping is the magical power which many people use these days. There are different products that are available online. Footwear, furniture, health and fitness, dresses and electronics are few items to be mentioned which can be purchased online. The advantage of purchasing online is well known to all.

Ink cartridge is one such product which can be purchased online. They are available at a very reasonable cost. Apart from cost the large variety of ink cartridge that you can find is crucial factor which drives people towards online shopping. Even while shopping virtually one cannot come across such a large variety. The reason is that keeping such huge stock in hand increases the rate of investment in business this in turn increases the cost of the item. Therefore as there is no investment cost in the online store you can get the items at a reasonable cost. Thus taking advantage of this opportunity one should check out the hp ink cartridges 364 that are available in the online store at a very reasonable cost.

There are many refilled cartridges available in the market. But they are not of high quality. Moreover even the cartridge that you buy may not be of high quality. Thus while buying a cartridge it is essential to cross check if the quality of the cartridge is good and if the cartridge is original. With all these factors into consideration it is the best solution to buy the original cartridges online from a reliable seller.Similar Posts:

The board of directors of Hewlett Packard Co held a meeting yesterday, the main purpose of this meeting was to consider ousting the current CEO, Leo Apotheker from his position. Apotheker has only been on this post for less than a year now and the board is considering to replace him temporarily with the former CEO of eBay, Meg Whitman.

According to a source for The Reuters, now, company is facing lawsuits from the shareholders and the criticism from the investors is also increasing by day, so the board is now forced to think about alternatives and they are certainly considering Whitman as the interim CEO. It looks like that the Silicon valley giant company is trying to restore its decreasing credibility in the market. Leo Apotheker has been in command of the company for 11 months and during this time company has faced many serious issues like the slashing of sales forecasts, not fulfilling the promises to integrate webOS into device and the share price has also went down to 50% than last year.

According to the source, the board has not made any decision about the leadership by now. The source reported all this on condition of anonymity because it is very serious and sensitive matter. Well, when the investors and shareholders got this news, HP’s shares went up 6.6%, shares closed at $23.96, which is a gain of $3 billion in company’s market value. So, it really shows that the investors and shareholders have approved the removal of the CEO of company.

If it really happens, and Apotheker is let go, it would be third time in a row that the HP’s board of directors have ousted the company’s CEO on basis of sales. According to some analysts, Apothekar had all the odds against him from the beginning of his tenure. He was opposed by the current Chairman of the board, Ray Lane, as he said that the previous management did not invest enough in the major fields like software and services.

According to an analyst at Ticonderoga Securities, Brian White:

“He was doomed from the beginning. The die was cast for whoever stepped into that position.”

Now, it seems like investors have approved the arrival of Whitman in the company, he is a billionaire who failed to become California’s governor and joined the company’s board this year on interim basis. On the other hand, Apotheker is the former CEO of a Germany based software making company, SAP AG, he succeeded the very popular former CEO HP Mark Hurd. Hurd was ousted last year by the board due to a scandal which involved expense reports and a female contractor. Carly Fiorina was the HP’s CEO before Hurd and she was also a candidate for California’s political office and she was heavily criticized by the investors for thinking about acquiring Compaq, as PC industry was going down by day.

Now it looks like that HP’s board will have to step in once again due to the long list of lawsuits from shareholders over the recently made strategic changes and the way they are communicated. So, it seems like Leo Apotheker’s tenure is coming to an end now.

We have all heard the news of the sudden demise of HP’s WebOS Touchpad. It’s only been seven weeks and the sales are dead but its competitor Apple’s iPad 2 is going more than fine. HP’s Touchpad had same fate as of the Dell’s Streak 5 in this tablet war. According to an analyst at Boston research and investment firm, Mark Gerber said that the tablets other than Apple do not work well in the retail market.

Tablets other than HP and Dell which failed to sell in the market are Asustek Computer Eee Pad Transformer and Xoom from Motorola mobility which is going to be bought by Google in near future. RIM’s PlayBook series is going good in the markets and RIM does not intend to shut down this tablet series in near future because of its strategy and future planning.

There is not even a better software than Apple’s created by any of its rivals by now. Apple’s iOS is conquering the tablet market with its 61.3% share and Google’s Android possesses half of its share i.e 30.1% and the other competitors are Microsoft holding 4.6% and RIM with 3.3% in the second quarter.

Well the Apple’s reign in the tablet market is not going to last much longer, after the deal made by Google to buy the Motorola Mobility. Google will step in to the field of hardware manufacturing and will compete with Apple equally on raised stakes. People are now looking for the all new Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich system which will soon be launched by Google in tablets and Smartphones.

After Google, Microsoft is also a possible threat for Apple, which will be releasing its tablet software, may be in the fall of 2012 named as Windows 8. Microsoft has the largest eco-system and the company will get significant traction in the tablet market.

After the creation of the popular Kindle-e-reader, Amazon.com is also expected to release a tablet this fall too which will also provide a challenge to Apple. This tablet would change the rules by its low cost, as low as $300 and with its Android Honeycomb OS and a 7 inch screen. Amazon could be a major threat to Apple because of its previous products’ popularity and all the extra services it provides to the users. The subsidized rates would be a key feature so maximize the sales.

Sony corp. is not behind in this race of tablets, this giant company is planning to release its first two tablets this fall too. So we may have seen many competitors come and go but this time we are going to see the best competing against the best.

Well, we are also shocked by the recent news we are getting from HP. HP, the world’s biggest PC manufacturer, has decided to stop producing all of its hardware products. These include PCs, Touchpad tablets and the smartphones too. This decision was taken by the new head of HP, Leo Apothekar, who recently came from enterprise-focused SAP. According to him, HP should do that business in which there is more profit, enterprise services in this case.

According to Wall Street Journal, Leo Apotheker said that their sales of Touchpad tablets are not what they expected and the problem with the PC department is that people now tending towards tablets instead of PCs.

In 2004, IBM shocked everyone by selling its PC department to Lenovo and after that to an unheard-of Chinese company. PCs have lost their values in the market and are more like the commodity items which are made more cheaply in China. So, the sales are growing in China and also Far East. Well, IBM made a good deal with Lenovo and then started only enterprise services and earning right profits.

So the problem here we are assuming is low profitability, only about $40 are saved on a single computer. So HP can walk in the IBM footsteps by not making dedicated PCs and just providing enterprises services.

We are expecting that HP’s PC division will be sold to either Lenovo or Huawei both Chinese companies. Dell also has a chance but will it be willing to take it? I think they won’t because the PC market in west is shrinking every day. US markets are down by 5% and European market fell by 19%.

Dell and Lenovo are taking over the Asian markets. After HP there will only two American companies remaining in the PC market, Apple and Dell. Dell is thinking to reorganize to focus on corporate side. On the other hand Apple is comfortable in PC business and is earning seven times as much profit as HP per machine.

When we talk about the future, PCs are vanishing and so are the cheap notebooks because the tablets are of same cost and only having better features. PC business has turned an ex-growth business in western world and is about to be replaced because of its non-profitability.Similar Posts:

According to Reuters, Hewlett Packard’s shares were slumped by more than 20% this Friday. This was the lowest in six-years. Investors have taken away $16 billion from the market value of HP. This all happened with the mistrust of the shareholders on HP’s Chief Executive, Leo Apotheker because of his announcement made on HP’s future.

HP decided to acquire a business of worth $11.7 billion for its mobile efforts and also planned to spin-off its PC business. This was third time in the year which disappointed the HP stake holders. HP’s sales may also be affected by this and the customers may move to other companies like Dell inc. The investors were also disappointed at HP because of their deal of $12 billion with a British company Autonomy Corp. This was too high amount and that why HP is giving up on its mobile business.

HP was the biggest loser in New York Stock Exchange on this Friday when its shares fell down to $22.76 after the announcement, before it was $31.39 on Wednesday. Investors have invested their money in other rivals like Dell making its shares up almost 3%. Management of HP has lost its strategy and customers have lost confidence in them.

According to an Analyst, HP is planning a sound strategy transformation and its focusing on high growth, high margin opportunities in the markets. The company is actually trailing its competitors; Apple, Dell and IBM. HP’s stock value has gone down to nearly a fifth of its actual value. HP’s failed venture of creating WebOS based tablet has also stopped production.

This announcement by HP to spin off its PC business is reflecting commoditization because of the change in use of the computers by the customers and this problem will also affect intel.Similar Posts:

A research was conducted by a firm named DisplaySearch which announced its results today. The research was conducted to find out that which companies are the leading in the race of Mobile PC sales in the second quarter of 2011. Every type of notebooks and tablets were included in the research. Apple being the manufacturer of the very popular iPad topped the list by shipping 13.6 million units and capturing 21.1% share in the market. At the second position it was HP which clearly is not even near the figures acquired by Apple. HP shipped 9.7 million units and grabbed 15% share in the market.

Frankly speaking before the research Samsung and Dell also seemed to be tough competitors but their overall performance was much degraded after Apple hit the remarkable figures on the board with iPad playing the maximum role in its success. Samsung could not even make to the list of top 5 companies. Whereas, Dell shipped 7.5 million units and acquired 11.6% share in the market. It is very important to note that iPad sales in making the 80% of the total Apple’s PC shipments.

To achieve this feat Apple had to ship a total of 3.6 million units more than HP.

From the report:

“Preliminary results show a second consecutive quarter of Y/Y shipment growth rate decline,” said Richard Shim, Senior Analyst for DisplaySearch. “While part of the Y/Y decline can be attributed to a strong first half of 2010, the rising tablet PC shipment growth rate begins to point to notebook PC shipment cannibalization.”

Buying a second hand computer may appear to be an attractive option for many people however a closer analysis will reveal that buying outdated technology may have more pitfalls than advantages…

Computers are expensive items therefore buying second hand appears to be an attractive option for many people seeking a cost-effective shortcut route to technology. Sadly unlike other high priced items, second hand computers in most scenarios turn out to be a major disappointment in terms of performance and often end up being a far more expensive alternative to purchasing a brand new system.

According to analysts, the biggest mistake buyers of second hand computers make is paying too much. A five year old Celeron 500 MHz sells for around a third of a new computer whereas the new computer is six times faster, has four times more memory, ten times bigger hard drive, four times longer warranty, runs the latest operating system and comes with all the software and manuals. Software and manuals are one of the biggest problems with second hand systems. Many come without the original disks, licenses and manuals and since the equipment is sold on an ‘as-is’ basis, if something goes wrong, one is forced to buy all the software that the system came with. The system might be cheap, but if the disks aren’t with it then tough luck for the unassuming buyer who ends up spending a fortune on new software to go with an old system.

A closer look at the current scenario reveals that few industries develop as fast as the PC industry. That shiny system on the shelf at your local computer shop is almost certainly about to be replaced by a better system. Today’s top system is next year’s old dog. As newer technology becomes available, the older equipment gets left behind. Parts for older systems become difficult and expensive to find, making repairs harder. The older systems also become incompatible with newer software and accessories.

The two main reasons for getting rid of a computer are that it no longer does what the user needs or the system has become unreliable or needs expensive repairs. A machine that needs expensive repairs is simply not an option for most computer buyers. Even if the older computer is running well, the odds are an older computer is going to fail sooner than a new system. Third world countries, especially those in the subcontinent like India and Pakistan have recently become dumping grounds for second hand technology or used computers in particular. As soon as technology becomes obsolete in first world countries like US, UK and Europe, containers are filled with discarded hardware like CPUs, Monitors, Keyboards and even mice and shipped off to a third world country like ours and we accept it with open arms.

Interestingly enough, since the last decade or so, used computers have became quite a popular phenomenon in Pakistan. In Karachi, the used computer market at Regal Plaza is frequented by many buyers largely because of the difference in the price of new and used computers. However, with the recent slash in computer prices, the difference has reduced dramatically, with the end result that new systems are now much more affordable whereas the prices of used computers have remained relatively steady. According to computer dealers, the difference in the prices of new and second hand PCs presently stands at a mere 30% as opposed to a previous 50% ratio.

Logically there is no comparison of these used PCs with the warranted new products available in the market. A recent price comparison reveals that the latest Core 2 Duo processor with a 975 Series Intel motherboard combination CPU, costs around Rs 13000 to Rs 17000, while a used plain P-4 will cost you from Rs 8000 to Rs 12000. The price gap between used PCs and new ones has decreased while the technological gap has widened considerably. These new processors have the advantage of more Processing Power, Efficiency, Power Conservation, Compatibility, Performance and Reliability than their used predecessors. Additionally, there is also a huge advantage of a three year warranty that leading manufacturers like Intel directly offer for all their products, which clearly indicates that that new PCs offer much better value for money than old used ones.

Moreover, dealers in second hand systems also have to allow for the increased likelihood of failure which is why we find five year old systems selling for half the price of new systems with only a three month warranty. Not only does it have five year old specifications and parts, but it also has a five year old operating system. In such cases, running Window 98 might not be a problem if one just needs a glorified typewriter. At the right price, an older system for that use may be worthwhile. However, the problems will arise as soon as you buy a new printer to go with that typewriter, try out a digital camera or if you have an urge to play that ‘new’ game on your ‘old’ system.

In addition, environmental and health hazards are critical factors that further negate the concept of buying second-hand PCs. While some term this dumping of second hand technology as a technological boon for a country like Pakistan, others term it as electronic waste containing high amounts of hazardous material such as lead, mercury, chromium, cadium and plastics. According to Achim Steiner, Executive Director of UNEP United Nations Environmental Program, of the E-waste being discarded worldwide, includes at least 700,000 computers arriving in South Asian Ports every month.

UNEP Environment specialist, Alert Bulletin further maintains, ‘The recycling and disposal of computer waste in third world countries becomes a serious problem since their treatment methods remain rudimentary. Such activities pose grave environmental and health hazards; for example, the deterioration of local drinking water which can result in serious illnesses. If these were good quality, second-hand pieces of equipment, this would perhaps be a positive trade of importance for development. But local experts estimate between a quarter to 75 per cent of disposed items to be defunct.”

Having considered all factors, it becomes safe to conclude that second hand computers are rarely worth the price or trouble that one endures for them. Existing and potential computer users in Pakistan therefore need to be better educated about the risks and negative externalities involved when buying outdated technology and therefore encouraging import of E waste. Hence, let us play our due role as responsible citizens by opting for greener, affordable, efficient, reliable and compatible products to be part of the solution rather than contributing to a problem that not only affects the industry at large but also the environment around us. Therefore, when buying a PC, let us have a little more foresight as it will surely enable us to make overall better decisions whilst foregoing temporary trivial monetary benefits.

Last Week, HP conducted a bloggers meetup in three cities of Pakistan, Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad. The intention of the event was to bring the bloggers community on platform where they can help teach HP that how can they reach online masses in Pakistan successfully. HP gave ample time to people to register for the event. Long and short, I went in (for Islamabad gathering).

Starter:

Fella Blaggars did left us with some Hot & Sour Taste when they showed up late in the session, not that late though – but still they were behind the schedule. As soon as ample people were there, the event started with Mr. Khalid introducing the crew.Crew of the ship was :

- Mr. Khalid – Emagine Group
- Mr. Saad Hamid – Panelist
- Mr. Hamad Dar – Panelist

Introductory Meal

Khalid started with telling us all that HP is about to introduce HP mini (a netbook) in Pakistan and they are happy to engage bloggers community in the launch. So happy, Sire!! Then he placed “Blogs or Social Media?“as a question in all our plates. Here some of us rose the forks and knives. Time for some kill.

Main Course:

As soon as the question was raised, answers started coming out from nick and corner. I won’t take the names here cause rest of the bloggers will feel to be left out. So, bloggers gave their thorough view point that what they really think about blog and social platforms.

Discussion was getting hot and was going in the direction (amazingly!!) . Bloggers had their opinion that with social media, they can reach the masses. But by using blog, an individual or company can only give/spread out information, where hundreds or even thousands following it While social media, for instance Facebook or twitter are more of communication tools. Agreed!!

It was further discussed that how a company can build a brand through bunch of blogging and social media. Case studies of Dell, Apple, IBM, Microsoft, Nokia were discussed and how they plan their branding and sales through blogs, Facebook and Twitter.

Discussion was taking to-and-fro motion between social media and use of blog. As soon as the the tug of war ended, Khalid dropped another topping on the meal which was “How can bloggers help HP?”

Lustrous as it looks, everyone had one thing on mind as I got this feeling from the smirky looks and that thing was “Do Paid Reviews” Jokes apart, guys and guls had their share of expression by telling HP team that they should do similar kind of meetups before launch and relevant bloggers will write about the product and that’s how online Pakistanis will get to know more.

Discussion was worth listening as most of the bloggers had their own blogs and they were productive enough in spreading knowledge with their experience. Once the discussion got to the noble end, Khalid burped “Time for HP mini” : – ) But by that time most of the guys were exhausted and they wanted some break. Khalid gave all of them mouth water effect by announcing “TEA BREAK” : – )

Tea Break:

Tea break was good as always so there is nothing to write about Dahi Bhalay and Chaat : – )

Chef Special:

Once the roaring rats settled down, Khalid presented us with his special for the evening “HP Mini”. Now, I am dying to write about its Pros and Cons here but I thought of writing a special post on HP mini only. So, I m leaving the Chef’s Special with empty space and a spoiler for you from next post,” Its Worth Buying”

Sour Grapes:

There were none as such. We had all the sweetness. But there were two, minor ones. The team showed HP mini 110-1119TU and 110-1120TU but we in Islamabad didn’t had the privilege of having the looks of 110-1121TU which is having designer made Top Cover.

Khalid did mentioned that they don’t have this specific model around here. They should have brought it as they have showed the interview of Tord, the designer of specific HP mini netbook. Another glitch was that they showed HP mini 1119TU and 1120TU but they gave us the price list of 1006TU, 1040TU and 1121TU. Price lists should have been there for the present netbooks only.

It was wonderful evening in all with knowing some of the new faces on bloggers platform. HP team didn’t let us down either. Khalid had all the sweats of the life on his forehead that very night, but he took all the bloggers with him on the smooth drive.

Stay tuned for the next episode on HP Mini NET BOOK.

HP announced a seizure of 2,922 Toner packages, 263 Ink packages, and other miscellaneous manufacturing material. This seizure was conducted by police at Shah Alam market, suburb of Lahore which supplied counterfeits to the IT markets.

The South Asia ACF Team along with the local Police conducted an enforcement action against a manufacturer and distributor of counterfeit HP Ink and Toner packaging in the Shah Alam Market, Lahore.

In addition to the seizure of these counterfeit goods, two arrests were made in this connection. HP appointed contractors assisted in this successful enforcement action by providing law enforcement officials with intelligence regarding the existence and location of these counterfeit goods. HP’s global anti-counterfeit program incorporates industry-leading anti-counterfeiting practices and partners with law enforcement agencies to combat the manufacture, distribution, and sale of counterfeit HP printer cartridges.

“Our commitment to our customers is the driving force behind the vigilance of our anti-counterfeit team, as we understand how the sale of counterfeit HP products negatively impacts our customer and the HP brand. With counterfeit HP print cartridges, customers purchase what they often assume to be a genuine HP product, but they instead receive a cartridge that provides them with inferior print quality at best and often times a cartridge that fails to perform at all. Through our anti counterfeiting efforts, HP is determined to protect our customers and our brand.” said Shahid Khan, Director Marketing – IPG

Pakistan A counterfeit product is a product which has been made to look identical to or substantially indistinguishable from the genuine or original product, usually for the purpose of deceiving consumers. Counterfeiting of printing supplies usually involves the illegal printing of HP-branded boxes, labels and security seals. Refilled cartridges containing inferior inks and toners are then inserted into this packaging that closely resembles genuine HP packaging. The counterfeit cartridges are ultimately purchased by consumers that believe them to genuine.

The diligence of the HP anti-counterfeiting program in the Asia Pacific region has resulted in law enforcement agencies successfully confiscating more than 5 million units of counterfeit cartridges, packaging, and components in the last 2 years alone. On a global level, HP maintains an aggressive approach to anti-counterfeiting and has conducted more than 4,620 investigations in 55 countries over the last 4 years. This activity has resulted in the seizure of more than USD$795 million worth of counterfeit printing supplies products worldwide over this same time period1). Helping consumers identify counterfeit printing supplies as part of its global anti-counterfeiting program, HP takes a proactive global approach to alerting and educating consumers on how to identify counterfeit printing supplies. HP also incorporates state-of-the-art technology in their products and cartridge packaging to help consumers identify fraudulent supplies. All HP cartridge packaging in the Asia Pacific region displays a security seal with color shifting technology that helps consumers easily identify original HP supplies. Customers can learn more about how to use they can use this security seal as well as other best practices to avoid purchasing counterfeit cartridges at www.hp.com/apac/nofakes

Being technologists, we believe to move ahead with much more aggression but at the same time we have to plan and act comprehensively to ensure that our successors could safely enjoy the benefits of technology we are producing today.

Hp’s new slogan, Power to Change, let the users to think to consider how much energy can be saved by shutting down idle computers. This is not just a slogan but a campaign subject to change the behavior of computer users around the world.

The company has long been involved in activities subject to highlight the need of reduced energy consumption hence save the planet.

HP says, if 100,000 computer users shut their PCs at the end of each day, they can save energy that amounts to some 2,680 kilowatt-hours and at the same time, reducing the carbon emission more than 3,500 per day. In other words, it will reduce the impact on environment as if 110 cars are eliminated from the roads.

At HP we are focusing and telling the technology users to optimize their printing environment so they could reduce energy, carbon, paper and costs. Being the largest technology company we want to give back something to Mother Nature. There are number of processes and techniques we are introducing that help users to decide how they can manage their priorities. The HP Carbon Footprint Calculator for printing is one such thing. It enables users to calculate their energy consumption, paper use, carbon output and the associated monetary costs of their printing environment. This clearly let them decide how they can reduce their environmental impact through responsible printing.

This calculator evaluates the impact based on the geographical energy assessments. The recently updated tool has the ability to perform in 146 countries. Customers can compare the consumption parameters, whether it’s a home user or corporate using inkjet or LaserJet, either it’s a new device or an old model printer.

We are not only perusing our customers but also we have applied the same rules within our own environment. As a result of power purchase agreement with SunPower, HP is buying some 1.7 million kWh per year, meeting over 10 percent of the facility’s energy needs and reducing CO2e emissions by more than 550 tonnes.

Through this agreement HP is bound to purchase this energy from SunPower for 15 years, saving over $750,000 beginning on day one of the agreement.

HP is the first IT Company which came forward voluntarily to report its greenhouse gas emissions. Not only this, HP is also the leader in product recycling. To fulfill our commitment we invest, HP pays its customers to return obsolete machines, thus reclaiming 1.7 billion pounds of e-waste over the past decade. It removes and resells the gold and copper, before disposing of the parts that are not reusable. HP’s new eco-friendly materials are totally recyclable.

Being technologists, we believe to move ahead with much more aggression but at the same time we have to plan and act comprehensively to ensure that our successors could safely enjoy the benefits of technology we are producing today.Similar Posts:
