Applications That Can Turn Your Android Phone Into a Windows 7 Device
By experiments and innovations, humans have always been trying to transform one item to make it look like another just like forming gold from lesser metals or making Ubuntu look like Windows/OS X.
The language that Windows Phone 7 is using, Microsoft calls that Metro. This was exclusive for Windows Phone 7 but Android’s developer company and the WP7 Android Project worked on it and now by using different apps and tweaks, an android phone can look like a windows phone.
Out of many applications, the most important one is the Launcher 7. It is the launcher for android and copies the home screen system of WP7.It has the signature Metro and the functionality transitions to add custom tiles. A banner at the end of lite version can be removed by buying the full application.
For Android samrtphone, a Metro inspired lock screen is called WP7. This is another application. It is authentic and works effectively and outstandingly on WP7. The only problem it has is that it doesn’t support any password unlock, which can be a negative point for the security conscious users.
To find a similar application like Android’s stock Music app, developers worked a lot and at last found an application which seems to be picked up directly from WP7 device and is named as WP& ZPlayer. It’s cheap and really worth it.
Moving further, developers also found an app called Photo Safari which replaces the stock Gallery app. Its overall look matches the WP7 design principles but unfortunately it was found a bit broken up during testing on Galaxy S II.
In the end, WP7Contact is good for Windows Phone 7-like contacts. It is a good replace for the stock contacts app.
If you really want to experience the Metro UI then it is recommended to get a Windows Phone 7 device. A major upgrade to the OS which is codenamed Mango is due this September.
