I’m sure you’re all familiar with the BBC iPlayer. It is usually known by the name of iPlayer and it is an internet television and radio service developed by the BBC. This move was played to extend its former RealPlayer-based and other streamed video clip content available to include whole TV shows. The beta version of the BBC iPlayer went live on the Christmas 2007 almost four years ago. The tagline back then read ‘Catch up on the last 7 days of BBC TV & Radio’ so I’m sure you get the gist of what the application is all about.
Well, if you’re a fan of the application, then know that the worldwide edition of this particular application is making its way to your iPhone and iPod Touch. The iPlayer Worldwide edition is fairly different from the UK version and is available in 16 territories that include Western Europe, Australia and Canada.
You can view more details regarding the iPlayer Worldwide here. iPlayer Worldwide does not have the DVT and TV catch-up features like in the United Kingdom version but it offers a wee bit more. It now has a video-on-demand subscriptions that should give you access to selected portions of the BBC archive.
