LHC Hands Down Closure Orders of Google, Hotmail, Yahoo & Others 7 Website

Following complaints of sacrilegious material of various websites,Justice Mazher Iqbal Sidhu of the Bahawalpur Bench of Lahore High Court directed Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to immediately block nine websites.The websites which have been ordered to shut down include Yahoo, MSN, Hotmail, YouTube, Google, Islam Exposed, In The Name Of Allah, Amazon and Bing.

It is worthy to mention here that a local citizen, Muhammad Sidiq had filed a writ petition in the LHC Bahawalpuir Bench seeking a ban on the websites for publishing blasphemous materials and twisting the facts and figure of Holy Quran. Deputy Attorney General Muhammad Hussain Azad also endorsed the viewpoint of the petitioner and demanded blocking of these websites.

Majority of the people have condemned the decision and said a true Muslim would never dare to visit such objectionable material on the internet. “There are ten of thousands of websites where world religions are discussed by ordinary people. How many websites can we block” a concerned citizen said on the condition of anonymity.

Counsel for the petitioner, Latif-ur-Rehman Advocate presented CDs and other evidence in the court, showing that the said websites were publishing sacrilegious material. Later, President High Court Bar Aslam Dhakkar said the court has given a historic decision. He said the legal fraternity would observe a complete strike in Bahawalpur on Wednesday (today) against publication of such material by these websites. He said a meeting would also discuss the situation today.

    i don't understand that what the hell court is up to … i think the people who are making decision and who are involve in this proceeding never used these tools and websites in their life … just out of blue make a decision to ban….

    Oh God, how illiterate and illogical can they get!! The only solution to their idiocity would be to ban the whole internet. About all these websites btw, they are not even personal sites with agendas..they are search engines n social platforms!! :x They are so determined to push Pakistan back to Stone Age..it's maddening. Since they can't solve Pakistan's REAL problems because that would require actual hard work n honesty n integrity..they satisfy their hypocrite hearts with superficial acts like these…I now understand n completely loathe the controlling power that China is determined to exercise over its citizens. I dearly hope n pray that Pakistan does not follow in the same foot steps. Haven't they done enough to make life harder than anything for us…now they want to ruin our personal lives too!! n from a student's point of view..how in the freakin' hell do they expect us to survive without Google n Youtube? My education partly comes from these two sources…does Pakistan really want to throw it's students in a secluded gutter where they won't ever be able to rise up to international standards n be forever condemned intellectually?

    For heaven's sake… google is a search engine. Why would you ban a search engine? I think they should not search that stuff on google :P rather than banning it. huh!

    These illiterate people dont even know where they are heading.all they know is how to linger on the genuine cases in courts for years.they are no good for anything.i bet non of them knows what google does.these guys should be taken to junior schools to educate themselves.due to such lawyers and judges, Pakistan is going back.People start booking caves in mountains rather then apartments and plots here.

    I am sure LHC Chief Justice or some a**hole court cased, Hotmail is an E-mail service
    amazon is a Shopping-service for US/ENG/GER/, Google Images should be, i have seen alot of photos depicting Mohamad(PBUH)

    Bad step from LHC, it really means “Banning the Internet”
